Service 01Custom, hand-coded websites

Website design & build

Most small business websites fail for the same two reasons. They were built from a template that fits a category rather than a business, and they answer the questions the owner finds interesting instead of the ones a customer asks before booking.

Written around real questions

Before any design happens I read your reviews and your competitors’ reviews. What customers praise and complain about is the copy brief. A grooming shop needs coat type and drop-off times. A salon needs the difference between balayage and highlights in plain words.

Hand-coded, not assembled

No WordPress, no page builder, no theme licence. The pages are HTML and CSS written for your business, which is why they load in under a second on a phone on a bad connection. Nothing between your customer and the page.

Mobile-first for real

Most local searches happen on a phone, often standing outside your competitor. The layout is designed at 375 pixels first and expanded from there, rather than a desktop design squeezed down.

You own everything

The files are yours. No monthly platform fee that holds the site hostage, no proprietary format, no rebuild required to leave. Every project ships with a README naming each place a phone number or price lives.

Website design & build: common questions

How much does a small business website cost?

One flat number, quoted in writing before work starts, based on how many pages you need and how much copy has to be written from scratch. You see what the price covers and where it stops. There is no hourly meter.

Do I need to buy hosting and a domain?

You need a domain, which you own and register yourself so nobody can hold it over you. Hosting for a static site is free on GitHub Pages, which is where this site and every project on it runs.

Can I edit it myself afterwards?

Yes, for the things that change: prices, hours, phone numbers, service descriptions. The README names every file and line where those live. Structural changes are worth sending to me, but you are never locked out of your own site.

How long does it take?

Two to four weeks for most single-location businesses, and most of that is waiting on photos and a confirmed price list. The build itself is the fast part.
